Resting in Savasana, or the Corpse pose. It allows for the cultivation of body awareness, and for mindfulness to arise. The foundation of our yoga practice should be based on mindfulness of the present, and not dwelling on past experiences or future plans. But all too often, the mind wants to latch onto the latter, because it is fed by the past and future.
Hence, by stilling the body like a corpse, opening to the moment with full deep breathing, we simply relax, and let the mind settle down slowly. There is nothing to achieve, nothing to grasp, just letting go with each exhalation.
